Hello. I am about to order my receiver and speakers and I am thinking of going with the KEF KHT1005.2 system and the Onkyso sr607 as my setup. The question that I have is in regards to the speaker placement.
I read the sticky and according to that it says that the rear speakers should be 1'-2' feet above ear level. The problem I am seeing is that due to the placement of the room I am putting the speakers in, the inability to mount them on the wall and the need for stands is that I can't really control the height of them. Would mounting them on 37" stands (speakers are then 6.5" in height on top of that) put them at or close enough to the right level about ear level assuming the ear level is the same as a person just sitting on a normal sized couch. Dont have the measurement at the moment of the ear level.
Thanks.

If you must mount your surround speakers at or around ear level them aim them towards the rear of the room on a 45 degree angle from the listening position(s). Another option would be to place them in the rear corners of the room aimed towards the listener. That is if you are not going to have rear surround speakers (7.1).
Hope this helps.
Sounds like a GREAT setup, BTW...

Thanks L2W, you posted in my other thread about these speakers and they seem like they got great reviews and everything, can't find a bad thing that anyone has to say about them mso I thought that they may be my best bet on something to start with my system. The only thing that I didn't like about them is the shape (doesn't quite go with the decor or that room I don't think) but I will get past that. I will try the different things that you suggested on the placement since all speakers are going to be on stands (most likely but I will know tomorrow when my real TV stand gets to myt house).
Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

I'm sure you will figure it out. The Audyssey process in the Onkyo will get all of the levels right for you once you get the placement right.
Good luck and enjoy that system, all of your friends will be wowed...
