I am watching LOTR-ROTK on TNT right now and when those stupid commercials come on, it's ungodly loud... I know a lot of TVs these days have a volume-leveling feature that is supposed to keep commercials at a level similar to the regular program.
Does the G10 have a similar feature? I looked in the menu, didn't seem to see it, don't see it in the specs, etc. Am I missing something? This is seriously frigging annoying.
Anyone got a clue about this?
Thanks!

Nope, there is no such setting. You can set the overall volume level for each input, but there is no way to set it for each individual channel, nor for dynamic changes, such as commercials. You're like the rest of us - stuck with overly loud, annoying commercials. Of course, you can do I normally do when watching live TV - I just hit the MUTE button every time a commercial comes on. However, I seldom watch LIVE tv now that I have a DVR ! Now I just FF thru the stinking commercials. :)

I also usually don't watch commercials much anymore, but this happened to be one show I wanted to watch and it was on, so... oh well. Dangit. C'est la vie.

Damn... dunno if it was worth another few hundred bucks, though. :(
There is supposed to be a law against commercials being above a certain level higher than the program that is on, but as usual the gov't is more interested in controlling individuals rather than corporations.
I always use my receiver for the sound and I set the mute to just reduce the volume by 20DB so I can still hear when it ends when I leave the room during the commercial. Because i use the receiver for all sound, I never even checked to see if mine has this feature or not, since it wouldn't matter with the receiver being the sole source of sound instead of the HDTV speakers.

I have the same problem as you, I have Dish Network HD. I hate it when I walk away from my living room to go look at something on the computer only to hear it get very loud all of a sudden!!
