So I just purchased the Onkyo HT-5200, which would be my first home audio system ever. I noticed that the receiver has HDMI inputs, but it doesn't transmit audio so I have directly plugged in my ps3 + dvr to the receiver using digital optical (?). The problem is when I change inputs between ps3 and dvr, I have to manually change which optical line my receiver should be playing (port 1 or 2) . If i was to plug in the hdmi lines through the reciever can I...

1) No longer manually choose which optical line port my speakers should be playing when I change tv inputs

2) Will I see a decrease in video quality? (I would like to control my receiver and tv using one remote)

Also anyone know a good site that teaches me how to fully utilize my audio system? Thanks in advance :D

You need to assign the components to its proper input. I have a similar onkyo system and i just simply assigned each optical input to its rightful device.
