Advice on HDMI switcher and cables

I just purchased an LG blu ray player, and currently am using it as an SD since I only have a single HDMI input on my HD-ready television, and that slot is filled by my Samsung hd receiver. So, I would like to get a switcher to enable me to have both connected.

I've looked at Monoprice as it is so highly recommended, but I am not sure of what I should get. This switch appears to be what I need:
Product ID: 5310
3X1 Enhanced HDMI Switch with built-in Equalizer w/remote

But then I see THIS one:
Product ID: 4088
4X1 Enhanced 1.3b Certified HDMI Switch with built-in Equalizer and Remote (REV.3.0)

which states it is "1.3b Certified" whatever that means. Would not either one of these do the job? Is one better than the other (the extra port in the 4x aside of course)?

And as far as the cables I will need, I assume that this
24AWG HDMI 1.3a
is fine, but there is another section with the "category 2" label, which are slightly more expensive. What does the "cat 2" give me, if anything?

Thanks!

I use an HDX-301 switch that I got from monoprice. Three inputs, IR remote, no auto switching to the active input. It works perfectly everytime.

In the HDMI specifications, Category 2 ("high speed") cables assure proper transmission of deep color, 1080p video, and HD audio.
