Lee Stewart 09-07-2009, 03:05 PM 3DTV is becoming a reality. It is being shown at all the major trade shows and promises to launch next year some time, in different forms:
3D via Blu-ray disc
3D via Cable
3D via PC games (both for the PC and Game Console(s))
3D via Satellite (The UK)
As 3DTV is "beyond high definition" () it would behove HDF to "blaze the trail" and be one of the first HD Forums that has a dedicated 3DTV sub forum.
I have TONS of articles and PDFs with links, all addressing 3DTV which would help launch this new forum.
To be listed under the General Chit Chat heading, below the HDTV Lounge
Thoughts and ideas?
Lee Stewart 12-28-2009, 05:27 PM A bump to see if there is any interest.
CES 2010 is going to be all about 3DTV.
We have SDTV forums and HDTV forums. Time for a 3DTV forum.
I wonder if this could just go with the matching HDTV sections rather than segregate and splinter discussions more and then have people posting in the wrong sections.
Just thinking out loud. ;)
rbinck 12-29-2009, 08:39 AM I think until there is a product widely available, 3DTV should go in the new technologies section or in the matching HDTV or player sections.
Lee Stewart 02-26-2010, 12:16 PM Another bump
From AVS:
Announcement: New 3D Central category section now added to the AVS Forum lineup! You will find the new section for 3D discussion and questions right below the HDTV area. Past threads started on the 3D topic in other forum sections are being slowly moved into the new areas. Enjoy!
Products have been announced and are streeting next month.
I will be more than happy to work with a MOD in getting 3D oriented threads transfered into a new 3DTV forum should one be created.
Lee Stewart 03-01-2010, 01:37 AM No interest in 3D here at HDF?
OK . . .
I'm done requesting a new forum. More time to spend over at AVS. They now have 3 dedicated forums to 3D. Made about 60 posts there today.
Not uninterested, but as I posted before, it will likely just fracture the flat panel area more. Nothing stops someone from creating threads in the flat panel section about 3D. Nothing at all. Why do you not want to post it in the flat panel section?

Like I said - no longer interested. AVS's (3) 3D forums are keeping me very busy. Plus HDD will be creating a 3D forum.
There is no interest here in 3DTV. I have already stopped posting new articles on 3D here.
Who said there was "no interest"??????
We just said the interest is relatively low right now and it properly can be posted in the Flat Panel section currently. That is a big difference IMO.

3DTV is MUCH more than the panel to view it on. It is almost a whole new format that has all new requirements and standards and hadware.
And speaking of differences - here is something to consider:
High Def Forums Statistics (since 03/10/04)
Threads: 102,580, Posts: 995,631, Members: 132,065
High-Def Digest Forums Statistics (since 10/12/06)
Threads: 81,233, Posts: 1,862,583, Members: 21,315
You getting the picture NOW?
So they have 900,000+ posts about 3DTV?
Otherwise are you just trying to "put down" this site for the members not being as active or this site not being as good BECAUSE of this post count difference?

I've said everything I had to say both in public and in private.
Done!
Done sounds good to me also. ;)
Razor05 03-08-2010, 12:43 PM A little patience is all that's needed here. I would suspect as the threads and posts picked up, a new section would be added. I think the members here are just as keen on '3D' as anywhere else on the net. Just because it might not be 'the' hot topic right now doesn't mean no one cares or it's not important. ;)
Lee Stewart 03-13-2010, 11:09 AM Our sister site High Def Digest just created a 3D Forum
What have we got?
An MP3 Forum
:banghead:
Psssst . . . High Def Forum
3D is HD
Lee Stewart 03-15-2010, 09:36 PM On third thought - don't bother. Too many nay sayers about 3D here at HDF. I'll stick with HDD and AVS on the subject of 3D.
Now I am truly done.
