Ok i have a PS3 hooked up hdmi to an Onkyo 606. Now when watching dts-hd its sound nice and loud. Today i was watching Dark Night wich is Truehd and noticed it sounded low. Not loud like dts-hd. So i went into the settings under audio and switched back and fourth from DD To DD True HD and noticed a high difference DD Sounded better. Louder. Now on my receiver it say Multich. I dont understand what the problem is the ps3 and Onkyo both encode TrueHD. Thanks

Allow your PS3 to do the decoding and pass the digital audio directly to your Onkyo. Make sure you have the output on your PS3 set to PCM. Then make sure the "Multich PCM" setting on your Onkyo is set to DIRECT. This should solve your problem. When using this setting, the display on the Onkyo should read " Multich direct ", or something similar, as the PS3 is doing the actual decoding and is sending a PCM signal to the Onkyo. :D

DD/DTS is recorded louder than than DD+ od DTS MA in many cases. It's normal. I have the same "problem" too. When I watch a BD, I have to turn up the volume about 10db to be at roughly the same volume of a DVD I had previously watched.
