Price?

And since we're on higher end brands, has anyone seen a "shootout" between the the those high end players v lets say the Oppo.

It's not - the back panel is different than the Oppo. The menus are very similiar though.

Just because the back panel is different doesn't mean it isn't the same on the inside (electronics, chipsets, firmware etc.).

$1140.00, that's a lot to pay to get your BD player to match.

You look at the price of Cambridge Audio components lately?

Haven't a clue what they go for. I'm not paying big $$ for stuff made in China when I can get it made in Japan or the USA.

There are American made audio components. Outlaw amps and McIntosh are a couple. Of course Japan makes plenty of stuff.

Of course Mac and Outlaw are more expensive than cheap stuff. You asked for companies that make stuff in the US. Are Cambridge amps that much cheaper than Outlaw amps?

That CA link doesn't have any prices. Looking at Audiogon, Cambridge stuff looks higher. I didn't see a 7x200 to compare though.

I'm off this topic as I really don't even know what we're currently arguing. My statement was simple. If I'm paying good money for it, it ain't coming from China if I can help it.

The lower end Klipsch are made in China I believe. I don't like Klipsch's sound so it's never going to matter to me.:p

I don't have problem with low cost gear from China, it's usually a great product for the price. But when I start wanting gear that's thousands of $$, I'm getting it elsewhere.

Is that made in America or assembled in America?

Difference is the components are either all made in the USA or they are made overseas then sent to the USA to be assembled.

All Klipsch speakers are manufactured and assembled in the US. At least last time I checked, they were.

According to Amy Unger, a Klipsch employee and Klipsch.com forum mod.

"Made in China" doesn't accurately represent our products, IMO. All of our speakers are designed, engineered, and tested for quality control in the US, or Canada (Energy and Mirage), and Denmark (Jamo), so calling out "Made in China" really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Our products are a global effort, which does makes sense because they are sold all over the world, including to our customers in China. I believe we have discussed doing call outs in the future such as "Engineered in the US, Manufactured in China" or something similar.

At least some models are produced in China while many/most are made in the US.

Sure did...I was invited when I purchased my last set of Klipschorns and LaScalla's.

Probably their newer smaller system speakers.

Products made in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea and other Asian countries with cost effective manufacturing facilities are a necessity to be competitive in this market. I am happy with my Chinese made Blu-ray players including the Oppo BDP-83.

Klipsch has been around a long time and without using Asian expertise for cost effective manufacturing, the company wouldn't last much longer. The corporate headquarters were here in Arkansas, not far from me and may still be in Hope, AR but the inexpensive speakers seen in the stores sure can't be made here any longer. I don't know what Klipsch products are made here now but I will inquire when I get a chance.

I wasn't excited when I saw that Klipsch had acquired Energy, Mirage, Jamo and a couple of other really good speaker manufacturers but I understand why it happened.

My Klipsch are all mfg in the USA. I have the reference series. ;)

Maybe some of the lower end products are made in China, but what isn't nowadays? Heck most of the Japanese products are made in China also now. I think the most important thing is where it is Designed, Engineered AND where Quality Control is done. AFAIK, all those things are STILL done in the USA for all Klipsch products.

It is true that some do not like the sound of the horn tweeters, but this depends on the equipment they are mated to. Since Onkyo (and Sony) receivers are bright in tonal output, they are a horrible match up with Klipsch speakers that also bright. Matched to Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer, & Harmon Kardon they sound excellent to everyone who has heard them in my house. I love the dual 12" side firing powered subs in my RP5s. Nothing like hearing bass in stereo instead of Mono. :D

You just said a mouthful and hit the nail on the head while doing it.
