I'm looking at buying the Hauppauge 1212 PVR, along with a new laptop to hook it up to. I read the post on the PVR, very informative. Need a little further guidance.
I currently have:
- Samsung 40" 1080p LCD TV, purchased in Feb 2009
- Comcast cable HD DVR
My questions:
- What does the laptop need to have to be able to run this thing? I'm not so much talking about what the documentation provides for minimum requirements, but ideally what do I want on it?
- I also want to use my TV as my laptop monitor. In other words, I'd like to flip back and forth between watching recorded TV content from my laptop, and using my laptop as a computer. If I connect an HDMI out from my laptop to my TV, will that suffice for both purposes?
- If I buy a DVD burner in the laptop, will I be able to burn movies recorded from the DVR to my DVD burner? Will the DVD drive need any particular capabilities in order to do that?
- Has anyone used this device with a Comcast DVR? Any special considerations?
