Aspect Ratio Problems on PS3 [Archive] - High Def Forum - Your High Definition Community & High Definition Resource

I searched the forum but couldn't find the answer to my question. I recently switched to an HDMI cable over the componet I had been using. The problem is in the aspect ratio for both Blu-ray movies and DVD movies. For some reason, the BD's are showing in 4:3 AR. I can switch my HDTV to wide, but shouldn't the movies come through in 16:9 or at least close to that. I have an HDMI cable for my cable box and it automatically comes through correct. Also, the games for the PSR come through in 16:9, it's just the video playback. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, go into your PS3 video settings menu and set the "DVD WIDE" settings to "LETTERBOX". That should solve your problem. :thumbsup:
