It will be a while and if you are waiting for the price to be half of a comparable LCD it will be a very long wait.

This is one discussion about the Laser TV by Mitsubishi. Late to market and very expensive and even more expensive in a 65" size than either LCD or plasma is the nail in the coffin.

Hi,

It's a new technology that is similar to 1-chip DLP rear projection, but without the color wheel. Instead of a 300-watt light bulb they use 3 lasers red, green, and blue which combine to make white light. The term Laser TV refers to the principle of literally firing a laser onto the inside of a TV screen in order to produce an excellent quality image.

Thanks.

Actually it is a Laser illuminated HDTV, the first one that was introduced in the market was a 65" Mitsubishi LaserVue. And WoW! the price is around $7000! They say it is one of the best HDTVs in the market today. I also heard that it has a low energy consumption.

Nice sounding display, thanks for the link.

It is, though a DLP rear projection display which may make some think twice and does have issues with off axis viewing as do other rear projection displays as well as LCD panels. Otherwise it sounds top notch...:yippee:

Right, but it still has the basic principles of a rear projection TV, it just uses lasers instead of a UHP lamp (or LEDs) to create the image.
