Info: I recently moved to a 100 unit condo building which is prewired for Dish network service. We have a single dish and the signal is split into each unit. Unfortunately, we have no control over the installed equipment (due to a very convoluted contract agreement which I will not go in to) and can not upgrade or change anything. I do not know the exact dish model or equipment used to get the signal to my place but I currently have a DN 311 (or maybe 310) receiver. I would like to purchase a newer, HD model receiver, like the 811 (or any other model I can get cheaply, the building is being converted to Comcast in Dec.). I realize that I will not be able to get HD content from Dish but I will use it in conjuction with an OTA ant. to pick up my locals in HD.

?: Is there compatibility issues between different dishes and receivers? Can I use a newer receiver with the old dish on my building? Can I easliy switch my service to the new receiver once I get it? Any suggestions?

Please help!! I am stuck in SD He11!
