I explain to every client after a complete measured and instrumented calibration... "Now remember, it
is your TV!"
Using another's (calibrated?) settings is flawed for the following reasons.
#1. The displays are not in identical ambient light situations. (unless they are both in a dark room, read black.)
#2. I have yet to measure two displays in oob condition that are exactly the same. Differences occur from the factory as parts for the display might well be manufactured by different companies from all over the world.
An ISF Calibration quite simply sets up your display to an accurate standard. Clients then have the
option of viewing program material as the original artist of the material intended.
Clients might well choose to deviate from the standard when the lights are on, or when watching programming broadcasts from less than perfect sources..SD. They may also like the saturation of colors at different levels depending again on the material being viewed.
It is your TV! Using anothers service or user settings very rarely helps
your display. If you want the possibility of watching programming with intended accuracy, a thorough calibration performed with instrumentation and patience by a qualified tech is your only answer. That is of course until manufacturers start selling accurate displays not meant to "catch your eye" on showroom floors.
Good Viewing,
