I think that plasmas have more disadvantages than advantages although they do supply greater contrast. I would stay away from plasma cause they are on their way out with only three manufacturers left. Toshibas were rated well so def a good consideration. I have a 37" Vizio XVT (SV370XVT) and its picture definately is comparable to top rated samsungs. The only thing I would recommend is that when you are shopping for a new tv ask the sales person if you can play around with the remote and the settings. Adjust the backlight, brightness, color and sharpness to your liking..then you will know what tv is best for you. Alot of times you can adjust a lower end model to look like a higher end model...and it may save you some money. Happy shopping...theres plenty of choices haha
