Define "unable" and "no success." What steps do you follow and what is the result? Need more info.

Make sure i.Link CONV is OFF in your A1U and that VCR HDV/DV is set to HDV. All the settings must match or you won't have any success capturing. Also, while the FW port and cable on the Mac may be fine, the port could be blown on the cam, if the Mac doesn't even see the cam.
