CRTs use a magnetic field in the picture tube to draw the scan lines so it is bad for the CRT to have speakers that are not shielded this close to the CRT. You will have to get a shielded center channel to protect against harming your CRT based HDTV.
For a center channel, which should be as close to the actual display as possible for a proper sound stage, you must get a shielded speaker, or move it so far away that it will harm the sound stage. I recommend you move it away from the CRT immediately and then look for a shielded replacement ASAP.
