Its because they are trying to release some good games for once(I know there are some exceptions), I cant expect any game to be worth a shit if it only costs $5-10. Its a lot to ask for any dev to release a game that plays well and looks good for so cheap.

It looks like they are just testing the waters, they are now giving us a game with more incentive and longevity albeit for a higher price..
