Well, I am confused yet again.I called the Winegard dealer near us and he had me check the signal strength, had no idea I could do this. This morning, the two VHF channels came in for about 30 minutes. The dealer told me an amp would only work if I had a signal,it could not boost no signal. So while on the phone with him I checked signal and there was no signal on VHF, as is true for 98% of the time. He still wanted me to buy a pre amp, even though before I checked he said it would not help no signal. Now maybe I am stupid, but can it boost the times when there is no signal or only the brief times the signal comes in? The other channels(UHF) all had strong signals. He also told me that there are special HD antennas, but everything I have read says this is not true and if a salesman tries to tell you this,to find another salesman. Now I know a pre amp is needed for two TVs,right now, I would just like to get one TV working and then go from there. So I am thinking I just plain need a better antenna with more VHF power, can use the Radio Shack antenna as a yard ornament!Sorry to keep bothering you with this.
