I got no antivirus, and no viruses. So either I'm incredibly lucky (I click links on 4chan for god's sake), or there's some truth to my rambling.
It's fear mongering. The whole anti-virus biz. I guess it could be useful for people who do open emails in Outlook/Thunderbird from unknown spam bots, and then click the downloads images/content prompt. But if you're not that guy, you're not going to get viruses.
The smallest bit of internet common sense is better than any anti-virus 'suite'.
I fear for the day when Microsoft requires anti-virus insurance to license a copy of Windows.
