Don't get me wrong, I think if they get Natal working it'll be great for some casual stuff and for a UI, but for serious gaming having a controller is a bit more practical it seems.

I agree with that, but who says Natal won't have peripherals? Most of them might not even be anything more then a prop..
Sony's system seems to be completely based around the wand, which can be limiting. Natal doesn't have that limitation. If you need to hold something in your hand, hold anything you want - Natal probably wouldn't care.
I think Natal will open up a whole new market for peripherals - many of which would be nothing more then props.
