Dead pixels (or stuck like that LCD you had) can still happen but they are less likely now compared to earlier years but they can still happen. Even though Panasonic is rated the most reliable brand for a few years running, it can also happen with them also as you read above.

My friend had a LG plasma for about 1.5 years and gradually started having 4 stuck pixels on his, when he sold it cheap and bought a Panasonic plasma last year at the same time i bought the same Panny model and neither of us have had any stuck or dead pixels.

Just an FYI. A dead pixel is black with no light on that pixel, while a stuck pixel has a color that either stays one colr (red/green or blue, and blinks that one color).
