I purchased my Samsung DLP HL-S5687W over two years ago from Second Act on the web. Damn great price and service at the time. Sadly, I went there last week to buy another and they have fallen do to the economy and are no longer in business.
Anyhow, buyer beware on Warrentech or Repairtech. I need a repair but it turns out only one repair shop is authorized by them to do the repair in my area. Twice I have taking off work and no one has showed, returned calls, etc. Needless to say they are now getting a company out of another city (which is in another state) to come in this Monday. It's been a month since starting this process so lets hope this guy shows.
I just bought a Samsung DLP HL-S6187W off Craigslist this past Saturday for $600. The thing looks like its been in a box its so clean. Anyhow, seems to work fine and have no real concerns other than some picture PQ ???'s. I find there are too many adjustments to be made and I don't like having that much control. I just want auto 24/7 though I don't think that works best with this set depending on the source.
Anyhow, I have no problems buying used or on the internet. I have learned my lesson with Warrentech/Repairtech. I understand through this forum that the Samsung extended warranties are far superior, especially where customer service is concerned.
Oh, and I agree..Stay away from Best Buy. Something is amiss there. Every electronic item my brother and I have bought there has been faulty and returned. I am starting to think they purchase seconds.
