DVI to HDMI question
I have a question similar to Btown earlier in this thread. However, as a newbie to this whole arena I'm a bit in the dark. Here's what I have - a Samsung LN-T4042H and a Comcast HD box. The Comcast box does not have an HDMI outlet. It does have a DVI (of some type). Since the TV is about 15 feet from the box, my wife won't let me hook up the wade of wires which came with the box, so I thought the HDMI would be the way to go. But since the box doesn't have that, I'm stuck. (I asked the folks at the local Comcast outpost if I could exchange my box for one that did have an HDMI and they practically laughed at me.) I'd like to run only one wire, if I can, from the box to the TV. I believe I can get an adapter to plug into the box that turns the DVI (if it's the right type) into an HDMI outlet. But I thought someone told me if I did that I'd have to run audio wires which I know my wife will frown upon. Frankly, I don't much care if the audio is digital or not, but it would be nice to be able to employ the HD features of the TV. The bottom line is that I want to run just one wire that doens't cost as much as the TV. Is it possible?
