If I were you, I'd use one of these on the Home Theater circuit from the generator:
Toshiba Series 1000 Online UPS System These are NOT inexpensive, but Toshiba makes some very fine electrical (industrial) equipment. These are "generator friendly". (While the Opti ES800 is good like a Toyota Corolla, the Series 1000 is a top of the line Lexus.)
Do you have natural gas where you live-- piped to your home? A far better fuel for a generator than diesel. If your power is out for days and days, the gas just keeps flowing -- cleaner, cheaper too . . .
This summer half our city was without power for five days . . . could not buy gasoline or diesel-- the gas stations had electric pumps.
