What I find funny is everyone is saying "oh, this was from the NYT's, this is BAD".

Yet the SAME article contains two quotes.

One negative. One positive.

So why is it only the negative comment gets credence? Two equal but opposite comments - in the SAME article - yet only one is "discussed".

I can think of a few reasons why...

Seems everyone is afraid to answer why Kornblau said he was "bullish" - but everyone if quick to offer their opinion on "do or die". Just more two faced behavior. I don't know why I expected anything else.
Here's the Kornblau statement:

Quote:
Movies that have crossover appeal with video game enthusiasts are also proving resilient. “Hellboy II,” for instance, is beating sales projections by about 10 percent, according to Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. “The Incredible Hulk,” released by Universal on Oct. 21, also sold well.

“I’m feeling really bullish, and I’m not being naïve,” Mr. Kornblau said.
That is a reasonable statement imo. We are seeing growth, we are seeing that Blu-ray seems to find its market. It's about the way how i feel myself. (And i'll keep riding the ride, instead of booing from the sidelines.... )

To answer your question, bmore, serious journalism should stick to facts and present a balanced view on matters that allow multiple perspectives. Including statements of people, some of which are prudent, other's being bullish, is just a result of someone taking his job ethics somewhat seriously. imo.

It's the job of the bloggers and forum nutjobs to spin that into something they want to see. The funny thing is, when said people suddenly claim to have found the truth, even though it is only their opinion and in many cases not even a well founded opinion.
