We all know the studios are greedy. I do not expect the studios to drop any BD movie prices until possibly next year. I feel they want to see what results 2008 Q4 will bring and maybe 2009 Q1. The studios may feel that Q4 BD player price reductions will encourage increased interest in BD movie purchases. If movie purchases really increases during next year, then I wouldn't expect any movie price reductions anytime soon. If movie purchases don't really increase as they expect, then I feel that would push them to entertain lowering BD movie prices.
Although DVD has dropped in sales this year, they still are turning over a sizable profit for the studios. I don't believe they are in any rush to lower the movie prices. Afterall, BD is steadily growing. Even with the slumped economy BD is holding it's own. So the studios are in no hurry.
