The 550 when set to MIX setting to add BD audio only mixes the core with the special feature audio.
I would hope SONY would let the user select decoding in the future even to a HDMI 1.3A AVR. That way if your receiver has a decoding issue you can use the player's decoder instead.

The S550 has the decoder but will not let you use them if the receiver can do the decoding?
Sony's arrogant thinking that they know what is best for people strikes again.
