If they make 3D work with existing HDTV's - then there is a good chance you will encounter flicker and THAT would be a show stopper.
Many say 30 frames per eye is not enough (The UK is worse - 25 frames). You need a higher frame rate.
And many of todays HDTV's are 120 HZ frame rated. (UK offers 100 Hz)
3D is not going to be for everyone. Just like 1080 HD is not going to be for everyone. It will be something that people are willing to pay for.
