Seems we can copy and paste the Australian situation to Germany as well:

Even though the format war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray came to an end in February this year and despite the fact that around one third of German households are equipped with HD-Ready TVs, sales of Blu-Ray Players in Germany continue to fall short of industry estimates.
Initially sales figures seemed to meet expectations, when, following the end of the format war, sales units of Blu-Ray Players increased by more than 50% in March compared to the previous month according to GfK Retail and Technology. Nevertheless, this boost did not continue into April and sales in fact returned to a slight decrease in the following period.
September saw another turnaround, when sales figures increased by up to 27% compared to August, however sales in volume terms still remain below 10.000 units per month. Nevertheless, due to decreasing prices of Blu-Ray Players and Discs (more than half of the Blu-Ray Players sold on the market were sold for less than 300 Euros and some movies in Blu-Ray format are already sold for less than 15 Euros) there should be further positive development in this market.
