Its a Scentific Atlantic remote from Cablevision, any ideas? I tried searching a web for a replacement but all the ones listed were overseas models. I was thinking of just buying a universal remote and see if that works. I just use it to turn on and off it does not control the flame . Do u think the universal would work, TIA!

You'll need a learning remote, there are some at Radio Shack that can do it on the cheap. But you just need to get the original remote from a friend or do what I did when the dog had crewed my TV remote order it program the new one and put the order one in a safe place.
This one might be better for as you can talk to it and it will turn stuff on and off..
