First of all, the new 80GB is still compatible with PS1 games. Secondly, the 40GB does not play PS2 games. In fact, this new 80GB is IDENTICAL in every way to the 40GB except for the hard drive space and the dualshock 3.
I wanted PS2 compatibility and the card reader and extra USB slots, so I went with the MGS4 bundle before they were all gone
