On the other hand, there are many hidden jewels in that thread. I would highly recommend that if he is interested, he dedicate a few hours and wade into it.
As for viscious or elitist, It's just the internet. There's not much they can actually do to you if you don't care. Honestly, the only thing I've noticed is that many threads are locked prematurely before a question can be throroughly addressed.
