Bass are funny. Are they chasing breem after seeing yours? Are you killing the breem or hooking them while they are still alive? I asked this because a bass will attack a fish that looks injured. Another possibility is the bass has either seen the hook or the fishing line and it spooked him away. Bass are very smart, if you can see it, it can see you and most of the time they won't hit.
Those breem that you are using should catch fish, bass or atleast a catfish. Most predator fish will see a wounded fish and take advantage of its misfortune. Fish can be as aggrevating to you as it can be relaxing.

Amen brother!
The Breem are alive - they last anywheres between 30 minutes and an hour depending on how big they are (bigger last longer)
Yes - he can see a hook. I thought about adding a second leader ( on 2') to lower the Breem to 4' where the clarity of the water disappears. Hook is not shiney.
