I wonder if the original reviewer was using component or composite cables: Switching made a noticeable difference on my new 50" plasma. I've only tried Zelda and Okami since I got the new cables yesterday, but both games are much sharper visually and the controls even seem to respond better. It's still no Xbox or PS3, but the Wii has its virtues; and the component cables make the graphics passable on a large display.
