Default The DANGER of Buying ONLINE

I'm sorry for the blatant plug for a company I've dealt with in the past, but it needs to be said. It's always a gamble when you buy online. That store you posted has no apparent contact information. There's no phone number, and when you dig in deeper to find out who they are, you find out it's run out of someone's apartment (google map it).

If I'm spending a hundred bucks or more, I'd rather purchase from a more reputable company like Discount-Merchant! They are the one of the largest AUTHORIZED Philips dealer for genuine parts.

Recently I purchased on Amazon from bulbking. Their motto was "Buy from the little guy." NEVER AGAIN. Everyone who sells lamps seems to want tell me that the bare bulb is the best. Discount-Merchant says it's better for the environment and it's easy to do it yourself. I agree, but when it came time to purchase for my parents, I found BulbKing first and purchased a lamp. NOT AS EASY as you might thing. Apparently, it required me cutting the factory connection to the ballast and then manually tying the ballast wire onto the bulb. That's not a simple repair or replacement! That's ghetto rigging something and hoping it'll work. Sure 100s of people may have done it in the past, but just my luck, I'll eff something up!!! So I called Discount-Merchant and they talked me through what I should have done and the reason they don't sell the bare lamp for that model (Panasonic's TY-LA1000). They gave me the entire lamp and casing for under 200 bucks when I told them my story of spending so much money with the "little guy."

There really is only a few big players in this market, and I'm definitely going to be buying from this reputable company again.
