I notice you have an LCD TV: many LCD TVs emit very high levels of IR interference from the screen, or the backlight, and this causes the problems you are seeing.
Options to get around this are (1) use RF for your remote instead of IR, and (2) at least on the Sharp Aquos, turn down the automatic backlight control.

Once your TV warms up the IR interference reduces which is why you see the problem go away.
