While I am waiting for my HDMI cables (sorry, not paying 5 times the price in a store), I decided to download a couple of demos from Sony, just to see how much gaming has improved. I am in no way a gamer, as I couldn't even figure out how to swing the bat in MLB
My question has to do with download speed. I have 10gb cable speed, that benchs at a shade over 10 at speakeasy.com.
The first download of a demo went fine. I didn't even look at the file size. I can usually download all 70 some Microsoft updates when setting up a PC, so file aize means nothing.
The second load was a combat game, and it took close to 2 hours to download.
The only connection I have to the PS3 is an Ethernet connection running from my router.
The only thing I can think of would be the Sony network was crowded and starved for bandwidth.
Anyone have similar problems?
After that experience I would be very hesitant to purchase a downloadable game from Sony. I have a feeling if you snagged a slow connection, you would time out and lose your download, unless they have a redundency system like download accelerator that saves a partial download.
