TyNorth ...
not sure about your Sammy SIRTIS question, but I was considering the Panny 50LC13 when I bought the Sony. you're right it has great inputs. Does the 50LC14 have any major improvements over the 50LC13 other than larger speakers? Does it address any of the shortcomings/fan noise and bulb issues the odd user complained about?
A few reviews I saw stated that it wasn't as nice/bright a picture as the Sony and the two stores I visited didn't seem to show it well - could it have been a weak feed on purpose - maybe there's more margin in the Sony's and they pump em out
I'd love to be proven wrong as it has pretty much everything I wanted (although a PC DVI along with its HDMI would be very nice).
I have about 15 more days on this Sony till my 30 day trial runs out, so I'll be **VERY interested to hear how your Panny turns out:
1) How is the Fan noise?
2) How is the PQ?
3) How is the Screen pixel quality - any dead pixels?
4) How is Panny support if/when you have a problem?
I have seen a few people online griping about the issues above and that contributed to me going Sony, but I preferred the Panny from the start.
For whatever reason, the links I posted in my first post above were truncated and don't work so if these ones don't come out - it ain't me

I also notice that Hitachi's new 50VS810 in Canada has TWO HDMI's and comes with a USB Camera Hookup. No VGA input however so it would be back to trial and error to get VGA output working with it's HDMI input.

Please let me know how it works out (I'm away from the PC this weekend but will watch for your posts when I get back)
Spending wads of money used to be far easier
The sales guys are gonna love me if/when I go back for my fourth TV (I'm on my Third one with this Sony)
anyway, I'm not dropping $4500 after taxes (I bought some other goodies as well) on stuff that doesn't cut the mustard
