Having researched for two months the purchase of a new Rear Projection HDTV, I walked into Circuit City with checkbook in hand with one last visual question to be answered. Does the set I was looking for have acceptable analog picture quality ? The clerk was kind enough to switch off the HDTV broadcast to show me the analog picture.
I was shocked and disheartened at what I saw. The picture was unviewable.
I completely understand and expect the analog picture to be far inferior to HD, but until everything is broadcast in HD I still intend to watch much programming on the "other" channels. Without specifically naming the Model that I was looking to purchase , could someone please advise me on whether the picture will generally improve at home as opposed to in a retail store and are certain Models much better at displaying an analog signal than others.
