an internet forum is the wrong place to ask other people what to buy. You're just asking for confusion. See when people take "the plunge" they are totally satisfied with their purchase and get on the boards and plead about the great picture quality and try to obscure people into thinking that any other set is obselete. What aspiring hdtv owners do not know is that the simple fact that HDTV is the root of all this praise, not the set. HDTV is a beautiful thing and your gonna be satisfied one way or another, unless you get a no name cheap set, so dont listen to the majority of all the boasting and take it with a grain of salt when someone tells you that one set is obselete to another, hint :Myers: asking someone to tell you what to buy with a load of money is crazy! this is your money for your set, do a little research yourself and let your eyeballs do the work. dont be misleaded by commercial retailers and their crappy feeds on crt and lcd and their pure hd feeds on plasma. they do this to sell the more expensive ones to make the cheaper sets look obselete. your gonna get hit from every direction by asking someone what to buy and most likely end up with the set you didnt want or pay out of your ass for a set that is just as good as the one thats a grand cheaper. do a little research yourself on the types of sets your interested in and then let your eyeballs make the brand. picture quality is only half the buy. you must consider connectivity, compatibility, and duration of the set and it must be a set that will keep you happy years on end. the only thing i see these types of forums being good for is troubleshooting a set you've already purchased or discussing tv providers, hookups, and technology in general. Only you can truly decide what is best for your needs and make sure you have a moderate return policy if you dont like what you chose, we all mess up sometimes. As for myers all i have to say is "ABEIT, MOOT POINT". where the hell is this guy from?
