Frankly, once you've properly calibrated the set, and assume that you have some light in your viewing room, I do not believe that you will see any difference.
I prefer LCD over plasma. Admittedly this is based on seeing a lot of big screen plasmas is bright rooms, stretched SD content and other crap that people do with $5K sets, but I've never been impressed. Also, not been impressed looking in the big box show rooms.
