6-8 months into the purchase I noticed a line of dead pixels running from right to left on the screen. The line is about half way up the screen on the right and goes about 4/5ths the way across the screen. The last 5 or 6 pixels flash on an off similar to the lights on an eqaulizer. Anyway, when i first noticed it, I called Sylvania and asked about repairs/warranty and was told it's past the 90day warranty so the parts are covered for up to 2 years and the labor is on me. So based on that, I decided to wait until I got closer to the 2 year mark incase something else happened, It would only have to get opened up once. Anyway, I call back and I am told 1 year parts 1 year labor. I didn't like that. I call a local repair shop and explain the problem and ask if they have heard of this before with the line of dead pixels. The guy tells me it's $99.00 to have it looked at and if it can be fixed, they take the $99.00 and apply it to the bill. I asked again if they have seen anything like this before and the guy tells me to hold on and then another guy gets on the phone. He goes through the spiel of $99.00 and I ask him if he has seen anything like this as I want to get an idea of a possible repair prior to giving them money. He says no I can't say that I have. He then asks me how much I paid for it and I said what does that have to do with anything. He said I just want to help you decide if you should just buy a new TV. I said I can figure that out for myslelf. So here I am. Shouldn't they know if they can fix a line of dead pixels or not if they are an authorized Sylvania repair shop??

So is this line able to be repaired?

Thanks

He's asking you because the panel would have to be replaced! Funai gives you 2 years on the panel for replacement. So you still could get it replaced since it's not quite 2 years yet. The labor rate they quote you is cheaper than my area. I have to shell out $105 but that was back in 2006. I wanted to see it it was worth getting the extra protection from Wal-Mart for $58 bucks. So we did. The second Funai doesn't have extra protection. Since Funai will replace the panel with no questions ask under the 2007 agreement policy.

Which model you have is it silver/grey or black? Did you get that from Kmart, Sears or Circuit City? Could you take a close-up picture of this problem. I can past it on to a repair tech and see what he saids? But if it what I think it is then the panel would have to be replaced.
