You are sadly mistaken if you think the quality of that Sony is better then the quality of other brands. Hit the frame with a screwdriver, WTF, that certainly sounds like a quality way to do things. Not good advice at all.

To the original poster, contact Sylvania and see what they have to say. Did you buy an extended warranty or use a credit card (which in many cases doubles the original manufacturers warranty)? If so, contact your credit card company and explain the situation and let them take it from there but please check out these options and DO NOT bang on your TV as it may void the warranty completely.
