Hello.
I am looking for a HDMI > DVI-D cable or adapter. I have tried a few, but I am experiencing the following problem:
Connections…
FIOS HD DVR Cable Box (Motorola 6416-2) > HDMI cable > Receiver (Sony STR-DG910) > HDMI cable > HDMI to DVI-D adapter > TV (Sony KE-42TS2, only has DVI-D).
The problem seems to be the adapter or the fact that the TV is not HDMI. Although this receiver is capable of assigning inputs, processing the audio from the HDMI, it refuses to process the audio for some reason. I get the video, but no audio. I know that the audio is begin passed from the cable box.
Interesting piece of evidence… if I turn off the TV, the audio HDMI is immediately processed by the receiver and is delivered through its connected speakers.
Here is my theory… the receiver is not willing to process the audio unless the destination is HDMI. My TV is not HDMI and I am using a DVI-D adapter at the end of the HDMI cable.
Is there another option? Perhaps an adapter with the proper termination.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ken
