But I have read about this before. For Profile 1.0 and 1.1, even with the latest firmware won't upgrade them to 2.0. For profile 2.0 and bd live, they'll have to shell out another $400+ for another blu-ray player.

I feel that it alot of Bluray customer dont think its a big deal then BDA should let customers know and have them decide. If the profile 1.0 are going to be cheaper then still make them and keep selling them at a lower price point then 1.1 or 2.0 that way customer can pick what they want. If they want to just watch movies get a 1.0 player if they would like to use features pay a little more and get 2.0 players.
Sidenote: I think the 2.0 players and future HDDVD players (if there going to still make them) need to come up with 802.11B/G wireless in them. I can see how someone that has a modem and computer in another room is going to have to get a 25ft+ cord around the floor to there player just to access these web features. I mean for god sakes the Nintendo DS has it in there
