The problem is that price didn't seem to do all that much last time:
1. BD SAL outsold HDDVD SAL in last quarter if I'm not mistaken, despite $99 sales
2. At the time, Warner was firmly neutral (more movie selection)
3. Entry BD SALs were more expensive than they will be, come Q2
Sorry, but given the choice between $149 (MSRP A3) for HDDVD and $299 for BD (expected MSRP for Funai), BD is the obvious choice for me with 70-75% of Hollywood releases (come May).
(of course I own both - paid $99 for A3 and $299 for PS3)
