They could have turned this into a bad press event for Warner and BDA and shown a strong resolve to march on in spite of the bad news. But instead they're giving the impression that they've given up.

I think they need a new marketing team. If I can think of this, they should have been able to. Then again, marketing has been one of the problems all along.
Business doesn't really work like that. Toshiba have to continue to work with Sony, and probably BDA members too so they won't take it personaly and start hurling insults and accusations around. Diplomacy is very important in business.
