I researched that receiver during early 2004. The HTL-HD is
branded by Hughes, but made by LG. Same thing for the Sony SAT-HD300. LG used to market a model that was also the same. If you line-up the three together, they have exactly the same footprint and (I think) the same rear panel. I went with the Sony b/c it had some very minor features beyond the Hughes.
FWIW: the Sony has been excellent since Feb 2004.
