Widescreen
Widescreen - preferably 'Enhanced for Widescreen TVs' also known as 'Anamorphic'. This type of DVD will fill your screen if 1.85:1 aspect ratio, or leave relatively narrow black bars at the top and bottom if 2.35:1 ratio. If you buy a widescreen DVD that does not have that comment you will probably have to use one of the picture zoom settings to take the picture to the edge of the screen - this is ok if it is a film you really want that has not been produced anamorphically but you loose some sharpness. Don't forget to go into your DVD player setup menu and change the TV shape to 16:9. If it is a progressive scan player select Progressive Scan and make sure you are using Component Cables, HDMI or DVI, NOT S-Video, Composite Cables or Co-Ax.
