BTW, both formats will require some updates to tweak the playability for a while but after the initial updates they will be needed less with HD DVD.
To further the discussion, the reason for many of the updates are problems many are having with player to display errors. There seems to be no set standard on how many of the HDTVs accept an HD signal (720p/1080i/1080p). So, when Toshiba comes across with a fix for some of the problems, they create an update.
