Found this thread through extremely difficult means. I think this might be the problem I am having with Time warner + Samsung HT x70 + HDMI

The set up worked fine for 3 months, then a few days ago, the stereo receiver would shut down by itseld (go to standby) with a "PROTECTION" message on the screen. If I turned it on again, would be ok for about 5 minutes and then shut off again. Is this the same problem others are describing?

Why would this happen after 3 months?

What are component audio? What is the set up?

Sorry, am a complete novice. Wanted to keep it simple so I got the HDMI... guess it was a bad idea.
